The Bishop of Central Busoga Diocese, Rt. Rev. Patrick Wakula, has called on politicians to desist from using provocative language during the election campaign period, warning that inflammatory words can incite violence, especially among youths.
Speaking during Christmas prayers at All Saints Church in CMS Village, Bishop Wakula said, “We should not take politics as a do-or-die affair because even after the election period we shall remain brothers and sisters.”
He urged Christians to use the Christmas period to preach peace and repentance, rather than engage in behaviors such as drunkenness and fornication, which are forbidden in the Bible.
The Bishop also encouraged citizens to embrace government programs such as the Parish Development Model in the coming year to improve household incomes.
The President of the Fathers’ Union in Central Busoga Diocese, Paul Isiko, praised Bishop Wakula for appointing Robina Bamuleseyo as the first female dean and vicar of All Saints Cathedral in the entire diocese.
Former LC 5 Chairman of Iganga, Patrick Kayemba, also advised Christians to spend wisely during the festive season to ensure they are prepared to send their children back to school when the new term begins.
